The Nebraska Cornhuskers enter year three under Matt Rhule with sky-high expectations. In his previous collegiate stops, year three has been the breakthrough: Temple went 10-4 and Baylor jumped from 7-6 to 11-3. The Huskers have a relatively light schedule and hope to get off on the right foot against Big 12 foe Cincinnati. This game is being played in Arrowhead Stadium, and the SportsGrid model loves the Huskers.

Nebraska is led on offense by sophomore quarterback Dylan Raiola, and he’s a potential breakout candidate after getting baptized in the Big Ten fires as a freshman. The Cornhuskers brought in some key receivers from the transfer portal, and they are counting on guys like Dane Key, plus a full offseason with offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen in charge, to boost the attack.

Cincinnati has a rebuilt defense, and the model doesn’t think much of the Bearcats’ ability to slow down Nebraska. Cincinnati does have some firepower of its own to put up points, though. Brendan Sorsby is an underrated quarterback, and the Bearcats have confidence in the offensive line. Additionally, Nebraska is introducing a new defensive coordinator, which could take some time to implement adjustments.

The SportsGrid model is all over Nebraska, laying a five-star pick on the Cornhuskers to cover the 6.5-point spread in this Week 1 matchup. In addition, the model has a bonus five-star pick and is aggressively recommending this game going over the point total of 51.5.

Best Bets: Nebraska -6.5 & OVER 51.5
