MLB Best Bets Today: Thursday’s Top 2 Betting Picks
Where to Watch Seattle Mariners vs. New York Yankees
- Ballpark: Yankee Stadium
- Location: Bronx, NY
- Where to Watch: RSNW, YES, MLBN
- Time: 7:05 p.m. ET
- Spread: SEA -1.5 (+138) | Total: 8.5 (-112/-108)
- Moneyline: SEA -108 | NYY -108
The New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners are set to wrap up a three-game series in the Bronx today. Considering the projected starters of Marcus Stroman and Bryan Woo, I believe Seattle has an advantageous chance to avoid the sweep on Thursday.
On the cusp of the All-Star break, both the Yanks and M’s are having respectable campaigns. New York has exploded for 19 runs over the past two games, but the right-handed Woo is in line to play stopper at Yankee Stadium. He’s enjoying his best season to date, posting a 24.6% strikeout clip while allowing 0.96 WHIP. Simply, opposing hitters have batted just .206 versus Woo (and .199 vs. RHB) throughout 107.1 innings this year.
Across the way, Stroman has not been nearly as precise in 2025. To this point, Stroman is operating with a career-worst 11.2% walk rate. The same can be said about his current 45.5% Statcast hard-hit figure. It should also be noted that this will be Stroman’s third start since early April.
On get-away day, I like Seattle to stop their New York skid. I am expecting a strong performance from Woo to put the Mariners in the win column.
Best Bet: Mariners -108

Where to Watch Arizona Diamondbacks vs. San Diego Padres
- Ballpark: Petco Park
- Location: San Diego, CA
- Where to Watch: ARID, SDPA, MLBN
- Time: 9:40 p.m. ET
- Spread: ARI -1.5 (+134) | Total: 8.5 (-122/+100)
- Moneyline: ARI -120 | SD +102
The San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks have been fairly evenly matched in 2025, but as of now, Arizona has taken four of six head-to-head meetings.
Thursday presents a contest between starters LHP Eduardo Rodriguez and RHP Randy Vasquez at Petco Park. With that, there may be a favorable opportunity for scoring.
Vasquez is having a tough time for the Friars. As of now, his 5.71 skill-interactive ERA is the worst mark he’s posted. Vasquez has also walked 10.7% of all batters faced this season. That could spell trouble going against an aggressive D-Backs lineup, which boasts a .773 team OPS.
Rodriguez has been better than Vasquez in 2025, but only marginally. E-Rod’s .365 BABIP is a cause for concern for Arizona. Further, he’s also allowed 1.65 home runs per nine innings.
My lean is on over 8.5 total runs on a warm evening in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter. Over the six previous contests between the Padres and D-Backs, we have seen an average of exactly 8.5 runs per game. Still, Arizona has been kind to over bettors in 2025, converting in 54.6% of action (48-40-5). Presently, that is the third-best clip in the National League.
Best Bet: Over 8.5 runs (-122)
