MLB Best Bets Today: Friday’s Top 2 Betting Picks

Where to Watch Chicago Cubs vs. New York Yankees

  • Ballpark: Yankee Stadium
  • Location: Bronx, NY
  • Where to Watch: MARQ, YES
  • Time: 7:05 p.m. ET
  • Spread: NYY -1.5 (+106) | Total: 8.5 (-122/+100)
  • Moneyline: CHC +158 | NYY -188

Friday’s slate features an intriguing matchup between two of Major League Baseball’s most passionate fan bases: the New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs. As it is now, this series will feature two of the top-three run differentials in baseball.

For our opening bid in the Bronx, the Yankees will give the ball to southpaw Carlos Rodon. Conversely, the Cubs will lean on hurler Chris Flexen in what will be his first start of the season. The majority of Flexen’s big-league career has been spent as a starting pitcher, but throughout 17 appearances in 2025, all have come out of the bullpen.

With over 93 games played so far, Chicago’s National League franchise has boasted one of the top offenses in the sport. The Cubbies are presently tagged with a .775 team OPS, which is good enough for third in MLB. They have also performed well versus LHP in 2025, showing a .756 OPS/.249 BA in the split. With that, Chicago will present a very formidable challenge for Rodon inside the hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium.

In the home dugout, New York maintains one of the most feared rosters that MLB has to offer. Before the All-Star break, the Bronx Bombers lead all others in OPS (.793), ISO (.198), home runs (146), and walks (368).

With all factors considered, I believe there will be ample scoring between two aggressive lineups on a hot day in New York City: give me over 8.5 runs!

Best Bet: Over 8.5 runs (-122)

Where to Watch Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Francisco Giants

  • Ballpark: Oracle Park
  • Location: San Francisco, CA
  • Where to Watch: NBCBA, SNLA, MLBN
  • Time: 10:15 p.m. ET
  • Spread: SF -1.5 (+160) | Total: 7.5 (-115/-105)
  • Moneyline: LAD +110 | SF -130

One of baseball’s longest and most evenly contested rivalries will add another chapter this weekend: prepare for the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants. The projected starters for Friday’s adversarial NL West clash are veteran righties Logan Webb and Dustin May.

Both pitchers are working masterfully lately. Webb leads the Senior Circuit with 120.1 innings pitched while holding a strong 2.62 ERA/1.16 WHIP. He’s also showing a career-high 27.2% strikeout clip. Across the way, May has compiled a respectable 4.21 skill-interactive ERA (per FanGraphs). The 6-foot-6 hurler also seems to love throwing in San Francisco. Over three previous games at Oracle Park (featuring 39 total plate appearances), May has allowed only two hits.

Notably, the Giants — a group that shows a .681 collective OPS have been a frustrated offense in 2025. Additionally, the Dodgers’ bats have also gone cold over their current six-game losing streak. Mighty Los Angeles has scored only 1.67 runs per contest over that stretch.

Orange Friday in San Francisco will feature durable arms and struggling lineups. From there, Oracle Park is viewed as the second-most pitcher-friendly stadium in MLB (per Baseball Savant).

Best Bet: Under 7.5 runs (-122)

MLB Best Bets Friday’s Top Picks:

  • Cubs-Yankees Over 8.5 (-122)
