Expect playoff intensity as the Texas Rangers host the New York Yankees for an early-week set at Globe Life Field. The Rangers currently trail the Yankees in the AL Wild Card race, but can erase that deficit with a series sweep. We expect them to come out swinging at home.
Texas has struggled lately, dropping five of its previous seven. Still, they’ll have a chance to get back on track versus Max Fried. The Yankees’ probable starter has given up 16 earned runs across his last 26.0 innings pitched for a 5.54 ERA. That standing is unlikely to improve versus the Rangers.
As bad as the Rangers have been, the Yankees have looked worse. New York barely got by a floundering Rays team last week, following that up by getting swept by the Miami Marlins. More concerningly, the Bronx Bombers have imploded and put up just two runs across the final two games of the weekend set.
We give the edge to the hosts in this one. We’re backing the Rangers as undeserving home underdogs in this crucial American League showdown.
Best Bet: Rangers +120

Where to Watch Toronto Blue Jays vs. Colorado Rockies
- Ballpark: Coors Field
- Location: Denver, CO
- Where to Watch: SNET, COLR
- Time: 8:40 p.m. ET
- Spread: TOR -1.5 | Total: 11.5
- Moneyline: TOR -210 | COL +176
Runs will be plentiful as the Colorado Rockies host the Toronto Blue Jays in this three-game interleague set. Bettors should capitalize on those fireworks in the series opener.
The Blue Jays’ bullpen has been torched recently, and that’s putting it nicely. Since the start of last week, Toronto’s relievers have been gassed for 29 earned runs across 28.2 innings pitched. Eric Lauer offers some reprieve, but we’re not convinced his 41.8% hard-hit rate and 69.4% fly ball rate will play well in the thin mountain air of Coors Field.
For a team that has just 30 wins on the season, the Rockies’ 5-5 mark over their past 10 is looking pristine. Colorado tallied 30 runs across their weekend set versus the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Blue Jays’ pitchers will ensure that hot streak continues.
Both teams’ current form will persist for at least one more game. Some more reckless bettors could be drawn to the Rockies’ moneyline, but we’re taking a confident position on the over.
Best Bet: Over 11.5 Game Total -122
Where to Watch San Diego Padres vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
- Ballpark: Chase Field
- Location: Phoenix, AZ
- Where to Watch: SDPA, ARID, MLBN
- Time: 9:40 p.m. ET
- Spread: SD -1.5 | Total: 9
- Moneyline: SD -126 | ARI +108
The San Diego Padres flaunted their newest acquisitions this weekend, taking two of three from the St. Louis Cardinals. Tonight is JP Sears’s turn to validate the Padres’ moves, as he leads his new team into an intra-divisional clash versus the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Sears has been at his best through the summer months. The southpaw has held opponents to two or fewer runs in four of his last six. Moreover, further positive correction is anticipated. Sears’ ERA remains almost a full run ahead of expected, implying that more efficient starts lie on the horizon.
Assuredly, Sears will be propped up by the Friars’ scorching offense. San Diego has put up 47 runs over its past eight games, for a beefy 5.9 runs per game. More importantly, they have triumphed in all but one of those contests.
The D-Backs moved on from several key pieces at the deadline, and that negatively impacts their outlook over the latter stages of the campaign. Even before that, Arizona’s offense was nonexistent over the past two weeks. The D-backs have scored just 27 runs over their past 12 games, by far the worst mark in baseball.
We’re betting the Padres capitalize on Monday, taking down their NL West rivals.
