Leg 1: Blue Jays Moneyline (+102)
The Toronto Blue Jays have surprised pretty much everybody this season, catapulting themselves into a playoff position, in what many thought would be a holding year. Now, Toronto holds the second wild card spot, with the Cleveland Guardians looking up at them outside the playoffs. While 42-36 is a pleasant surprise for the Blue Jays, just a game over .500 has to be a disappointment for Cleveland.
The Guardians’ offense has been a real problem this season. Cleveland sits 25th in MLB with a .230 team batting average, leading to the sixth-fewest runs in baseball. It’s even worse at home, where the Guardians have scored the second-fewest runs this season. Cleveland’s advanced analytics are no better.
The AL Central squad ranks in the bottom one percent in xBA (.230), xSLG (.375), xwOBA (.298), and xwOBAcon (.344). Cleveland also sits in the bottom three percent with a 6.7% barrel rate, bottom one percent with a 36.7 hard hit percentage, and bottom seven percent with an 88.6 MPH average exit velocity. Needless to say, the Guardians’ bats are protecting absolutely no one.
While Max Scherzer is not the dominant ace he once was, he is still a crafty veteran pitcher, looking to make an impact with his new team. Scherzer gets his second start with the Blue Jays after sitting on the IL since late March with a thumb issue. While it may be something the long-time hurler has to manage the rest of the season, he seems good to go. Scherzer worked 4.1 shutout innings in his final rehab outing with Triple-A Buffalo last Wednesday and declared his “stuff is fine."
Against an offense like Cleveland, “fine" is more than enough, and I expect the seasoned starter to handle this Guardians lineup before handing it over to the Toronto bullpen. Getting the Jays at plus-money against a struggling Cleveland team is music to my ears.

Where to Watch Braves vs Mets
- Ballpark: Citi Field
- Location: Queens, NY
- Where to Watch: SNY, FDSSO
- Follow: SportsGrid App (Google Play Store or Apple Store)
- Time: 7:10 p.m. ET
- Spread: NYM -1.5 (+130) | Total: 9
- Moneyline: ATL +128 | NYM -152
Leg 2: Mets Runline -1.5 (+130)
The New York Mets are beyond due. New York dropped its ninth game over its past ten last night, and after halting a seven-game losing streak last Friday, they’ve jumped back on a three-game slide. Perhaps even worse, New York is in danger of dropping a sixth straight game and this series to the Atlanta Braves after getting swept in Atlanta last week. I don’t see that happening tonight.
Despite the tough stretch, New York’s offense is still elite. The Mets rank fourth with a .465 xSLG, their .351 xWOBA ranks second, while New York’s xwOBAcon of .404 is good for fourth in MLB. New York also ranks third in barrel (10.3), second in hard hit (45.5) rate, and third in average exit velocity (90.4 MPH).
The Mets pitchers were getting it done all season long before this recent slide, when they sported a 6.06 ERA over the past 10 games. Despite getting lit up lately, New York still leads Major League Baseball with a 3.25 team ERA and the seventh-most strikeouts in the bigs. Mets pitchers are also allowing the third-lowest wOBA at .338.
New York gets a much simpler test after batting former Cy Young contender Spencer Strider, with a meeting against Didier Fuentes tonight. The Braves’ rookie will see a massive boost in offensive talent after going five innings and allowing four runs to the Miami Marlins in his first major league start last Friday. The likes of Juan Soto, Pete Alonso, Brandon Nimmo, and Francisco Lindor should be able to get to the young hurler.
I like an end to New York’s slide tonight against an Atlanta team with a less-than-serviceable 15-26 road record.

Where to Watch Mariners vs Twins
- Ballpark: Target Field
- Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
- Where to Watch: MNNT, ROOT Sports NW
- Follow: SportsGrid App (Google Play Store or Apple Store)
- Time: 7:40 p.m. ET
- Spread: MIN -1.5 (+158) | Total: 7.5
- Moneyline: SEA +112 | MIN -132
Leg 3: Mariners Under 4.5 Runs (-188)
The Seattle Mariners have been a fairly run-of-the-mill offense for most of the season so far. Seattle sits around the middle in team batting average, hitting .248 on the year. From a power perspective, they are pretty mediocre with the 17th-ranked xSLG at .427, to go along with an 89.6 MPH average exit velocity, which also slots them at 17th in baseball. While the M’s offense is better away from the pitcher haven that is T-Mobile Park, they will have trouble with tonight’s starter for the Minnesota Twins.
After a shoulder injury cut Joe Ryan‘s 2024 season short, he’s shown no ill effects in 2025. The Twins ace is in the midst of a career year, with personal bests in ERA (3.06), WHIP (0.91), and opponents’ batting average (.191)—the latter two categories are also among AL leaders. Ryan is also throwing through bats to the tune of 96 strikeouts in 85 innings.
Ryan has not allowed four runs in any of his past 10 starts, and has eclipsed that number just once this season. While he has yet to face Seattle this year, the 29-year-old righty mystified M’s bats in his only start against Seattle last year, allowing just one earned run on six hits, to go along with 10 punch-outs.
Although the Mariners’ bats have been booming lately, they will run into a wall in Joe Ryan. I expect the Twinkies ace to stymie Seattle’s offense tonight in Minnesota.
