1. Jon Rahm
World Golf Ranking: 72nd
LIV Season Standings: 2nd - 154.16 points
When it comes to links golf, Jon Rahm isn’t just comfortable—he thrives. The fiery Spaniard has built a résumé tailor-made for success at courses like Royal Portrush, blending elite ball-striking with a creative, gutsy approach that fits the rugged, weather-driven demands of The Open Championship. Few players can match his ability to flight the ball low through coastal winds or handle tricky, elevated green complexes like Rahm.
While he’s now making noise in LIV Golf, Rahm hasn’t skipped a beat on the major stage in 2025. He’s made the cut at all three majors so far—The Masters, PGA Championship, and US Open—with a T-7 finish at the US Open serving as his best of the season. The 2023 Masters champ also sits second in LIV’s individual standings, just 12 points off the lead, and is fresh off a solo second-place finish at LIV Andalucia.
Rahm’s game has always translated on UK soil. He’s won the Irish Open twice (2017, 2019), grabbed third at Royal St. George’s in 2021, and shot 3-under at Portrush in 2019 to finish 11th.
With top-seven or better finishes in three of his last four Open starts, including runner-up in 2023 and a team-leading role with Legion XIII, Rahm’s momentum and track record make him one of the most dangerous names in the field this week.
This is the LIV guy to back at Royal Portrush.

5. Brooks Koepka
World Golf Ranking: 282nd
LIV Season Standings: 28th - 45.13 points
It's been a rough go the past year-plus for Brooks Koepka. Once a shining star on the PGA Tour, Koepka can't even thrive among lesser competition at LIV. He hasn't won a tournament all season at LIV and has only two top-10 finishes on the year there. Koepka is coming off a T-32 finish at LIV Andalucia, which might not be so bad on the PGA Tour, but when there are only 60-something golfers, it's not great.
The two-time US Open champion hasn't fared well in PGA events this year either, missing the cut at both the Masters and PGA Championship. His T-12 finish at this year's US Open was the only time he played into the Tour championship rounds in 2025.
Don't expect much from Brooksie this week.
Odds to Win The Open: +6500 (T-19th)
Odds to Finish as Top LIV Golfer: +1200 (5th)
4. Joaquin Niemann
World Golf Ranking: 90th
LIV Season Standings: 1st - 166.80 points
If it's not LIV, it's not really working for Joaquin Niemann. After competing for the LIV points title last year and finishing second, Niemann leads the field this year, just ahead of Jon Rahm. Unfortunately, that success hasn't translated when he crosses over.
Niemann missed the cut at the 2025 US Open and finished T-29 at the Masters. This comes a year after he never topped the T-22 mark last year, which included a 58th-place showing at The Open. 2023 was no better as the Chilean golfer missed the cut at The Open and PGA Championship while finishing T-32 at the US Open.
While Niemann can be effective with his irons, his driving accuracy hinders him, and his game has never translated well to links golf.
Odds to Win The Open: +5000 (T-13th)
Odds to Finish as Top LIV Golfer: +900 (4th)
3. Tyrrell Hatton
World Golf Ranking: 23rd
LIV Season Standings: 21st - 51.15 points
Here is where it starts to get interesting with LIV golfers. Englishman Tyrrell Hatton is no stranger to rainy, windy conditions, treacherous roughs, or links-style golf.
While it's been feast or famine for Hatton at the Open, when he's on, he's on. The 33-year-old has played in the event 12 times and has four T-20 or better finishes in his past eight. That run includes a fantastic showing in 2016, when he finished T-5, and 2019, when he finished T-6. The other side of that coin is that Hatton has missed the cut at Big Brit seven times, although four of those were his first four times playing the Open.
Hatton has also shown up for stiff competition events, making all three PGA cuts this year, capped by a T-4 finish at the 2025 US Open. A similar trend in 2024, when Hatton made five of six PGA cuts with three T-14 or better performances.
Don't sleep on Ty.
Odds to Win The Open: +3300 (T-9th)
Odds to Finish as Top LIV Golfer: +600 (3rd)
2. Bryson DeChambeau
World Golf Ranking: 15th
LIV Season Standings: 3rd - 131.10 points
Now we really get into the big boppers, although I don't necessarily like Bryson DeChambeau in this event. While he can certainly crush it from the box, leading LIV to average 331 yards per drive, his accuracy can be suspect. He's hitting just over 62% of his fairways, ranking a pedestrian 12th in LIV. Further, his 68% clip of hitting greens in regulation could also be better.
Big Brys is coming off a surprisingly missed cut at the US Open, but has had outstanding performances in his other two PGA events this year. DeChambeau finished T-5 at the Masters and T-2 at the PGA Championship, with only Scottie Scheffler bettering him. His PGA mastery dates back to 2024, when he won the US Open, finished second at the PGA Championship, and tied for sixth at the Masters.
That success didn't make the flight with him to the UK. DeChambeau missed the cut at last year's Open after finishing T-60 in 2023. He has just one showing better than T-33 at the British, a T-8 performance in 2022. In his only tournament at Portrush, the 2019 Open, Bryson missed the cut.
While the odds may disagree, I don't see value in DeChambeau this week.
Odds to Win The Open: +2000 (4th)
Odds to Finish as Top LIV Golfer: +450 (2nd)
